Partnership agreements were signed, Thursday in Rabat, between the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and several Moroccan universities for the establishment of a volunteer program for the benefit of the Bank Group’s Annual Meetings (BM) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which will take place in Marrakech, in October 2023.
Signed during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, and the Wali of Bank Al Maghrib, Abdellatif Jouahri, these agreements aim to define a partnership framework for the mobilization of approximately 500 students from signatory universities, as volunteers, within the framework of the organization of the Annual Meetings of the WB Group and the IMF, says a press release from the MEF.
The ceremony was attended by the presidents and representatives of the universities concerned, namely, Mohammed V University of Rabat, Cadi Ayyad University, Al Akhawayn University, International University of Rabat and Mohammed VI University. Polytechnique, said the same source, noting that other universities will be asked, in the coming months, to join this partnership program.
The mobilization of volunteer students for the benefit of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund aims to promote the image of Moroccan youth and highlight their involvement and commitment in the country’s major projects and events. It also aims to allow volunteer students the opportunity to live the unique experience offered by our country’s hosting of the 2023 edition of the Annual Meetings of the two international institutions.
These Annual Meetings are the major annual meeting of international finance. They provide for the participation of approximately 14,000 personalities including the Ministers of Finance and the Governors of the Central Banks of the 189 member countries of these two institutions as well as the big bosses of international finance, international experts and opinion makers as well as representatives mainstream media, NGOs and academia.
