This meeting is part of the implementation of the results of the high-level bilateral talks that Mr. Hammouchi had with the American official, on the sidelines of a working visit he had made to the United States. on June 13 and 14, 2022, indicates a press release from the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
During these talks, the two sides reviewed the regional security situation and discussed the threats and challenges arising from this situation in certain parts of the world, the statement said.
The discussions also focused, according to the same source, on the dangers posed by connections between terrorist organizations and organized crime networks, including cybercrime, in addition to other forms of cross-border crime. Mr. Hammouchi and Ms. Haines discussed, at the same time, ways to develop bilateral cooperation between the Moroccan and American security and intelligence services, so that it matches the existing strategic cooperation between the two countries. and in tune with the challenges inherent in joint action for the preservation of security and peace at the regional and international levels, notes the press release.
